“The menorah is a symbol of light, faith, and hope that has guided the Jewish people through four thousand years of suffering... Its mission is to keep alive the belief in justice...”
The inscription on the pedestal at the Knesset building (Jerusalem)
The golden seven-branched lamp stands as the oldest symbol of Judaism. This is what the Menorah was destined to be, as revealed by God to Moses on Mount Sinai. At the same time, the description of the Menorah was as intricate as it was beautiful: the cups (gviim) on its branches were to alternate with an ovary (kaftor) and a flower (perah), with the branches doubling and branching out… Moses hesitated to undertake such delicate craftsmanship, and so G-d Himself fashioned the first Lampstand.
It is believed that the original Templar Menorah was forged entirely from a talent of gold! Since the Temple’s destruction, the Talmud forbids exact replicas of the Templar Menorah, leading to today’s more austere and ascetic representations.
With the expertise of the seasoned professionals at the Lobortas Classic Jewellery House, the ethereal and translucent light of the Lamp’s candles was captured in the Menorah cufflinks. Devoid of ostentation, the seven-branched candlestick is both joyous and solemn – akin to an inverted tree of life, its roots anchored in the heavens. Seven sciences, seven liberal arts were meticulously crafted by jewellers from gold and silver, setting the Menorah against the backdrop of the ancient hexagram, which safeguards the eternal light with the shield of David.
Menorah Cufflinks. “The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord.”
