– Does this road lead to the church?
– No, this is Varlam Street and it doesn't lead to a church.
– Then what's the use of it? What good is a road, if it doesn't lead to a church?
From “Repentance”, feature film
The Cross Pendant of ‘Zephyr’ – all roads lead to the Church. So, when a person begins his journey, the Faith drives him, and the Blessed fair wind helps him not to stray from the chosen path. The ancients believed that, drawing strength from the Sun, Zephyr, the tailwind, would always lead them home. And a people’s home is where their heavenly father resides.
The Greeks revered Zephyr as a swift and powerful wind, while the Romans saw it as light and gentle.
Seasoned professionals at the Lobortas Classic Jewellery House envisioned and crafted the exquisite ‘Zephyr’ cross pendant with such swiftness and lightness. The body cross itself is a canonical, classical Slavic form, although Demetrius of Rostov wrote: “We venerate the Cross of Christ not for the number of its timbers, nor the measure of its arms, but for Christ Himself, who sanctified it with His Most Holy Blood” (18th century).
Byzantine in style, the cross pendant of 'Zephyr' is fashioned by jewellers in the Byzantine Orthodox tradition. The Orthodox shrine is adorned with hot cloisonné enamels, meticulously applied by master goldsmiths. Byzantine enamels are renowned for their exceptional artistic qualities, brilliance, strength, and durability.
Even today, the purity of the colour palette and unique compositions of enamels enable the seasoned professionals at Lobortas Classic Jewellery House to create genuine masterpieces.
The golden lace of the ‘Zephyr’ cross pendant, the intricate and highly complex engraving, the diamonds, and the warm hues of this work of art embody the essence of Zephyr – radiant and hopeful.
