As the most cherished treasure, Ukrainians pass down from generation to generation the rich history and culture cultivated by their ancestors in ancient times. Among these enduring symbols stands the venerable coat of arms of the Cossack with Musket, an emblem of profound significance that has endured for over four centuries.

The image of the “Cossack with Musket,” depicted as a resolute figure holding a rifle, adorned the coat of arms of the Zaporozhian Host. First appearing on the seal of 1592, this emblem gained renown through its celebration in Ukrainian poetry of the 17th century. By the 18th century, it had become the principal coat of arms of the Hetmanate, the Sich, and the Zaporozhian Army. In 1918, it served as the coat of arms of the Ukrainian State led by Hetman Pavlo Skoropadskyi.

According to the Constitution of Ukraine (1996), this historic symbol is designated to be a component of Ukraine's Great Coat of Arms, underscoring its enduring legacy and its place in the nation's heritage.
