The work offers a contemporary interpretation of one of Ukraine’s key national symbols in the format of small-scale sculpture. The monumental image is translated into a refined, concentrated form, allowing for a more intimate engagement with its meaning.

The raised sword reads as a gesture of the will to defend, while the figure embodies a state responding to the challenges of its time. The essential silhouette — defined by verticality and frontality — preserves an inner monumentality even at a камерному scale.

Transposed into small-scale form, the image alters the distance of perception, becoming more personal and entering into direct contact with the viewer.

The ophicalcite base is interpreted as the Dnipro slopes — a landscape connected to the museum’s location. The figure rises from this foundation as a symbol of the bond between the state, its land, memory, and cultural continuity.

Created by Ukrainian masters during the full-scale war, the work affirms art as a form of testimony, reflection, and resistance.
