Legendary meander, one of the most ancient ornament patterns, has a very interesting history. It was named after a meandering river in Anatolia, in city town of Ephesus. Seneca wrote the following about it: “It is a subject foe exercises and poetic games, it is wavy and meandering, it comes very close to its own riverbed and then turns right or left again”. The same ornament, the meander, was found by the archaeologists at the ancient hunters settlements near Mezyn village in Chergihiv region. It is one of the most ancient ornament patterns in the world. It had appeared a few thousand years before Seneca described it. Once upon a time there was a hunter who broke a tusk of mammoth and saw on its edges a natural ornament, meander. The hunter was sure that this magic ornament is the sigh that gives the mammoth its power. He decided that if he has this pattern too he will become as strong and powerful as mammoth.

Other cultures adopted this Ukrainian pattern and a few thousand year after it was impossible to imagine ancient Greece without this magical ornament. It became a symbol of virtue that protected homes from evil.

The wedding ring “Modern Meander” made by meanders of the Lobortas Classic Jewelry House decorated with an ancient magical ornament will become a talisman for its owner. The meander has such a power because it imitates solar movement endowing the ring with eternal life and renaissance.
