At the end of the XX century, humanity was experiencing the end of an era that recently began to be designated by the sonorous term of Art Nouveau.
The main metaphor of Western culture of the modern era was the metaphor of form. There is nothing in the world that can escape or resist design... in the forms of thought.
Freedom – this is the highest value in the name of which a person of the modern era lives and acts. "To be free" means for him or her only one thing: to make the surrounding reality understandable and manageable, to remove from it all that cannot be rationalized. The well-known Spinoza's definition of freedom as an experienced necessity does strengthen the prevailing trend in the understanding of freedom.
