The word "grace" is a translation of the Greek word χαρις (karis). The "karis" means "voluntary
undeserved patronage". In the Bible, it means "the undeserved grace of the Lord." The importance of
accurate understanding this word cannot be overstated.
The merciful God is ready to give his grace to everyone and looks only at the faith of the righteous
person. The saint man calls for humility the main condition for acquiring grace. He says that the grace of
God will correct everything in you, when you are humble. “For every one that exalteth himself shall be
abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted (Luke 18:14), for God resisteth the proud, and
giveth grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5).”
May the precious ring with jade cross, one of the main symbols of the Orthodox faith, serve as a
protection for its owner and strengthen him or her in good thoughts.
