“Find in love's
labyrinth what binds:
doubled threads,
knots of trials,
errors, options. Secure lines
back through hearts' recall.”
- Ariadne's Thread by Maureen E. Doallas
Jewellery set of Ariadne's Thread is the unity of ancient myths, eternal sky and jewellery art. The ancient Greek myth of Theseus and the Cretan maiden Ariadne, who used the threads of a ball to lead her beloved out of the Minotaur's labyrinth, is well known.
Nevertheless, goldsmiths of the Lobortas Classic Jewellery House were inspired to create the bracelet of Ariadne's Thread by a little-known episode of this tale. Everyone remembers that Theseus fled with Ariadne after having accomplished the feat. What happened next, did they live happily ever after? Hardly that. According to one version, before reaching his father's shores, Theseus left his beloved on a deserted island by the will of the Gods. And as soon as his ship was out of sight, the girl was surrounded by the retinue of the God Dionysus and placed a diamond wreath on the head of the Cretan girl as a sign that she was now a Queen. Moreover, the wreath has since been stored in the sky as the constellation of the Corona Borealis.
Jewellery set of Ariadne's Thread is a precious copy of the ancient constellation. The earrings and the ring are entangled with threads of yellow and white gold. It symbolizes that no one knows through what paths his guiding star and Ariadne's thread leads to happiness.
