The Heritage of St. Sophia of Kyiv is a jewelled embodiment of the heritage of the majestic Sophia of Kyiv, whose origins reach back to the era of Yaroslav the Wise. This place of worship, where ornamentation has become a language of prayer, is not only an architectural masterpiece but also a living witness to history, in which colour, rhythm, and light form a single harmony.
The frescoes of the south tower and choirs, with their rich colour palette, became a source of inspiration for the creation of these exquisite jewellery designs. Stylised plant motifs, rhythmic interlacing, and symbols of light have been revived in the pendant with extraordinary precision and deep respect for the original.
Seasoned professionals at the House of Lobortas employed a unique optical technique to create a mirror effect: on one side, an image rendered in hot enamels; on the other, polished gold that forms its perfect reflection. This gives the ornament depth, movement, and three‑dimensionality, as if echoing the living light of an ancient temple.
Terracotta, blue, and ochre shades of enamel, combined with the warm glow of gold, create a solemn harmony that resonates with the colour world of the 11th‑century frescoes.
The Heritage of St. Sophia of Kyiv is not merely a jewellery. It is a philosophy of continuity embodied in precious materials: gold as eternity, enamel as memory, and diamonds as light that never fades. This work pays tribute to Saint Sophia of Kyiv — a symbol of wisdom, spiritual strength, and beauty that unites the past, the present, and the future of Ukraine.
