Double Horseshoe is a message from the past sent by famous Russian artist Mikhail Vrubel. For about 100 years, the sketch of the brooch has been kept safe in company with other sketches of the artist in the storerooms of the Kyiv Picture Gallery National Museum. The author of numerous paintings of Kyiv churches and a creator of a large collection in the Tretyakov gallery made his drawing of Double Horseshoe in 1886. He considered the interweaving of two horseshoes a symbol that brings double luck. This is the only picture of jewellery from all recorded works made by the great artisan.

At the request of the Kyiv Picture Gallery National Museum, artisans of the Lobortas Jewellery Innovations House created a brooch from this sketch. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the State Hermitage Museum, such brooch was officially donated to its museum collection, which is reflected in the Hermitage's report for 2014. This is a retrospective into the author’s unembodied work.
