The St. Sophia Cathedral of the Sophia of Kyiv National Reserve has been the venue for the “Spiritual Power of Ukraine” exhibition, which highlights the artistic creations of the Lobortas Classic Jewelry House. The exhibition honors the memory of Igor Lobortas, the founder of the jewelry house, artist and philanthropist.
A press conference was held at 12.00 in the Metropolitan’s House of the National Sanctuary “Sophia of Kyiv” to mark the opening of the exhibition. The speakers were Anastasia Lobortas, Director General of Lobortas, and Viacheslav Kornienko, Deputy Director General for Scientific Work of the National Sanctuary “Sophia of Kyiv”. They shared their insights on the significance and inspiration behind the exhibition.
After the press conference, the guests were invited to join a guided tour led by Anastasia Lobortas and Viacheslav Kornienko. The exhibition features ten jewelry sculptures that reflect the spiritual and cultural heritage of Ukraine.
The works on display include the St. Sophia series, which are inspired by the fresco compositions and wall paintings of the Central Church of Sophia of Kyiv. Some examples are the sculptural compositions “Archangel Michael, the Defender of Kyiv”, “St. George The Victorious”, “Finding”, “Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos”, “Holy Trinity”, bookends “Anthony and Theodosius” and “Peter and Paul”, as well as the “All-Ukrainian” lamp for the Holy Fire and a model of the future “Sophia of Kyiv” lamp. A sculpture of Petro Konashevych-Sahaidachny, a prominent Ukrainian military and political leader, standing next to a replica of his sword on the ruins of enemy equipment, adds a symbolic touch to the exhibition.
