6 October 2015
In October 1957, after the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, mankind made a huge step in the future. The space era has begun.
In the course of commemorative events for launching of the first Earth satellite, as well as the 55th anniversary of forming the team of cosmonauts, who had taken training at Star City, at the Yuri A. Gagarin State Scientific Research-and-Testing Cosmonaut Training Center Lobortas Classic Jewelry House transferred the Desired Hight jewelry composition to the GCTC Museum. Desired Height is an essential symbol, combining artistic achievements of modern technology and the millennia of spiritual power of the state – a scale copy of the first satellite, jewelry copy of the "key to start", which provides a command to launch a manned spacecraft from Baikonur, and the cross "Tree of Life", the only spiritual jewelry object that visited outer space. "This is emblematic and a very exciting day for us. I wish to express my gratitude for the cordial fervor, which has resulted in such a valuable gift to the museum" - Natalia Talanova, director of the museum, said. The jewelers heard the kind words of gratitude from Valery Grigoryevich Korzun, the commander of the cosmonaut team, Boris Valentinovich Volynov, the legendary pilot-cosmonaut of USSR, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, who set the absolute world record – 30 years of service in the team of cosmonauts, and from father Daniel, representative of the Interreligious Council of Russia and Synodal Department for Relationship between Church and Society.
