On the Day of Europe, May 9, 2024, the Kyiv National Art Gallery proudly unveiled the exhibition “Igor Lobortas: A 33-Year Legacy in Jewellery Art”. This event marked the most comprehensive display of the Lobortas Classic Jewellery House in its distinguished history.
The exhibition, which ran until June 9, honoured Igor Lobortas, an artist, ideological leader, philanthropist, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, and member of the Board of Trustees of the museum, who passed away in May 2023.

Aside from the House's friends, colleagues, and connoisseurs of contemporary jewellery art, the opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, who attended the event to pay tribute to the memory of Igor Lobortas. “We were not only good friends, but also worked together. Igor was deeply connected to the city he lived in. His work has left a lasting legacy in Kyiv, symbolized by Archangel Michael at St. Volodymyr Hill. His craftsmanship continues to inspire,” Vitali Klitschko shared.

Yuri Vakulenko, director of the museum, and Anastasia Lobortas, General Director of the House, welcomed guests with an opening speech.
The exhibition showcased a variety of artistic expressions, including sculptural compositions, gem-cutting, animalistic art, and miniature jewellery sculptures. The highlight was the collection of jewellery from different eras of the House’s masters, combining the latest innovative developments and inventions of the Lobortas creative laboratory with classical jewellery techniques of the world’s decorative and applied arts and jewellery.
The exhibition also featured projects, models, engineering inventions, prototypes, sketches, and drafts that have already made history. These were the sculptural fountain composition “Archangel Michael, the Defender of Kyiv” at St. Volodymyr Hill, MemoryArt objects dedicated to Igor Stravinsky along with the Camera ‘Kyiv’, and new developments that are in the process of implementation.
On June 1, 2024, at 14:00, a lecture titled “Jewellery Stories of Ukraine. From Ancient Times to the Present” was delivered by Oleksii Kraievsky, a researcher of fashion and jewellery art. The lecture covered the jewellery art of Ukraine from the time of Kyivan Rus’, the activities of jewellers of the late XIX-early XX century and Ukrainian Jewellers of the late XX century. The lecture concluded with a highlight of the activities of the House of Lobortas – from its inception to the present.
On May 8, a press conference was held at the Ukrinform news agency with the participation of Anastasia Lobortas. It was dedicated to the opening of the exhibition “Igor Lobortas: A 33-Year Legacy in Jewellery Art”.
Lobortas Classic Jewellery House extends its heartfelt gratitude to all connoisseurs of modern jewellery art who visited the exhibition “Igor Lobortas: A 33-Year Legacy in Jewellery Art” and paid tribute to the memory of Igor Lobortas.
