1025th Anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’.
The Visit of the Heads of All Local Churches

July 27-28, 2013 

July 27, at St. Vladimir’s Hill, Kiev, the public prayer, the main inaugural event on the occasion of the 1025th Anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’, was celebrated.


The heads of all local churches arrived in Ukraine specially for this occasion. The Primates of all Local Orthodox Churches, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Patriarch Theophilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, Catholicos Patriarch Iliya II of All Georgia, Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, Patriarch Neophyte of Bulgaria, Archbishop Chrisostomos II of New Justiniana and All Cyprus, Metropolitan Savva of Warsaw and All Poland, Metropolitan Tikhon of America and Canada, the heads of six delegations of Local Orthodox Churches as well as the Presidents of three countries, Russia, Moldova and Serbia, took part in the public prayer. After the service Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine congratulated everyone with the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus' at the monument to St. Vladimir.

July 28, thousands of people congregated at the Kiev Monastery of the Assumption for the solemn liturgy to mark the commemoration day of the Holy Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles, the Baptizer of Rus'. Also, everyone could worship the Cross of St. Andrew the First Called, placed in the Refectory Church. After the Liturgy, the official handing over of the commemorative crosses, made by the Lobortas Classic Jewelry House and ordered by His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and Ukraine, to the Primates and Representatives of Local Orthodox Churches took place.

July 27-28 at the Hyatt Regency Kiev, where the Primates and representatives of Local Orthodox Churches stopped, the Orthodox exhibition was held. The exhibition consisted of Altar Vigil Lamp for the bringing of the Holy Fire on the Day of Holy Easter, made for solemn transfer and timed to coincide with the celebration of the 210th anniversary of the founding of the Russian Orthodox Mission in Rome for the church of the Great Martyr St. Catherine, as well as seven artistic photos with the image of Altar unquenchable vigil lamps, made before by craftsmen of the Lobortas Classic Jewelry House for orthodox parishes and churches. To the Primates and representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches the commemorative albums with the history of creation of Altar Sanctuary lamps, made by the Lobortas Classic Jewelry House, were presented.
