«Star of David»

Gold Diamond Pendant

“There are seven angels` names before the mezuzah: Mikhael, Gabriel... May a-Shem protect you! The symbol that is called the Shield of David is placed beside every angel.”

Eshkol a-Kofer (middle 12th century).

The pendant “Star of David”. The six-pointed star that today is famous as the Star of David, was mentioned for the first time in the book Eshkol a-Kofer by the Karaite author Yehuda Gadassi. There is no doubt that this symbol is more ancient than we can imagine. Historians found out that the British Celts had also used this symbol, the Hindu priests called it Anahata, it left a permanent mark in history due to royal and scientists` stamps. In the middle of the 20th century it has become the symbol of the Jewish nation.

Some philosophers say that they see in it lily flowers that decorate the Menorah. Some historians say that it is the King`s Solomon stamp. The masters of Lobortas Classic Jewelry House described it as the shields of the King David`s soldiers.

“The shield of David” is one of the names of this ancient symbol. This shield that is turned upside down is ascetic and simple. According to another version it symbolizes the sky that longs for the earth. The earth longing for the sky is another shield. The jewelers of Lobortas Classic Jewelry House made it laconic but sprinkled it with diamonds. This dualism is not an accident. Gold and gemstones keep philosophic emptiness and spiritual filling, fire and air, peace and blessing. The invincible shields of David, the precious Star, always stand on guard.
